De-escalation Interventions and Techniques for Youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder

This training will provide information pertaining to de-escalation techniques and interventions. Participants will learn about the brain science, escalation cycles, the window of tolerance, and more. This information will assist participants in gaining applicable skills to support de-escalation measures in a safe and trauma informed way. Additionally, debriefing will be discussed and how to best resolve post-crises challenges.

 Trainers:
Blake Stephenson
Blake Stephenson is a Licensed Independent Social Worker and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and has specialization in working with children and adolescents who have developmental and intellectual disabilities. Blake has advanced training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Organizational Behavior Management (OBM), and in assessing autism through the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS).

Registration will begin at 12:30pm. Training will begin promptly at 1pm. This training is scheduled until 3pm.

 

Please note: Priority seating is provided to staff working within one of the current DHS child welfare service contracts, including: Family Centered Services (FCS); Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) / Group Foster Care; Child Welfare Emergency Services (CWES): Aftercare Services; Supervised Apartment Living (SAL); Recruitment, Retention, Training and Support Services (RRTS); Parent Partners; Foster Care Youth Council. If you do not work within one of the current DHS child welfare services contract, you may be bumped from the course and placed on a wait list.
