Course Description: The training will provide an overview of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), core symptoms, and common challenging behavior that is associated with autism.  Participants will learn about common interfering or challenging behavior, and strategies to prevent challenging behavior.   De-escalation strategies will also be reviewed and discussed in case examples.

Intended Audience: Family Centered Services (FCS) Staff; Qualified Residential Treatment Program Staff (QRTP), Shelter Staff (Child Welfare Emergency Services), Supervised Apartment Living Staff (SAL); Recruitment/Retention Training Support Staff (RRTS) Direct Care/Front-Line Staff and Supervisors

Trainer: Samantha Cermak is the Director of Autism Services at ChildServe and oversees the clinical development of ChildServe’s ABA program.  Samantha has been a BCBA and Licensed Behavior Analyst in the state of Iowa for 13 years.  She has practiced in homes, clinical, residential and school settings, primarily focusing on supporting children with autism diagnoses and their families.  She has clinical interests in early interventions for toddlers and young children with autism, training systems, and family training. 

The Training Room will open at 10:50AM. Training will begin promptly at 11:00AM. This training is scheduled until 12:00PM.
