< strong>Description: Child Safety Conferences were implemented in I owa to focus on immediate family safety concerns while supporting the philo sophy to keep children and families together. Child Safety Conferences are designed to embrace the family once safety has reached a level of concern w here children may be at imminent risk for removal from the family home. The goal is to develop collaborative solutions to allow children and families the opportunity to remain safely together.
This training will provide attendees the opport unity to learn about the history and philosophical beliefs behind the use o f Child Safety Conferences and their role as facilitators in the process. A ttendees will understand the importance of preparation with the families an d collaborative partners to develop a plan to meet the child and family saf ety needs.

Please note: Priority seating is provided to staff working within one of the current DHS child welfare service contract s, including: Family Centered Services (FCS); Qualified Residential Treatme nt Program (QRTP) / Group Foster Care; Child Welfare Emergency Services (CW ES): Aftercare Services; Supervised Apartment Living (SAL); Recruitment, Re tention, Training and Support Services (RRTS); Parent Partners; Foster Care Youth Council. If you do not work within one of the curre nt DHS child welfare service contracts, you may be bumped from the course a nd placed on a wait list.
