Domestic Violence Fundamentals
Descriptio
n: This 3 hour course is an introduction to domestic violence conc
epts and how they relate to family and child welfare. Participants will lea
rn about what domestic violence is, how to identify various tactics of abus
e, and how domestic violence impacts children from birth through their adol
escent years. We will also explore how domestic violence impacts parenting
and how professionals can help promote resilience and healing in families e
xperiencing this type of trauma.
Registration will begin at 8:30 AM. Training will start pro mptly at 9:00 AM.
There will be a Domestic Violence Inte rmediate course offered February 4, 2021. If you wish to partake in both co urses, you must register for each one separately.
Please note: Pr iority seating is provided to staff working within one of the DHS child wel fare contracts, including: Family Centered Services (FCS); QRTP/Group Foste r Care; Shelter Services; Aftercare Services; Supervised Apartment Living ( SAL); Recruitment, Retention, Training and Support Services (RRTS); Parent Partners; Foster Care Youth Council. If you do not work within one of the child welfare contracts with the State, you may be bumped from the course and placed on a wait list.
