Substance Use Disorder Basics will provide an overview of addition and recovery. Participants will be introduced to addiction and contributing factors, as identified within the DSM-V. Information will be shared on the overview of recovery and under standing the Stages of Change. The training will cover substances of abuse, including descriptions and effects. Participants will learn how to recogni ze behaviors associated with substance use and identification of parapherna lia. The course will identify the data relating to the involvement of famil ies living with substance use disorders and their involvement in the child welfare system. Participants will be able to identify their role to support children and families living with substance use disorders.

Registration wil l begin at 8:30AM. Training will begin promptly at 9:00AM. This training is scheduled until 12PM.
Please note: Priority seating is provided to staff working with in one of the current DHS child welfare service contracts, including: Famil y Centered Services (FCS); Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) / Group Foster Care; Child Welfare Emergency Services (CWES): Aftercare Serv ices; Supervised Apartment Living (SAL); Recruitment, Retention, Training a nd Support Services (RRTS); Parent Partners; Foster Care Youth Council.
