Sesame Street In Communities Exploring Emotions
Tuesday, November 16, 2021, 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM CDT
Category: Training

With so much happening in the world around us, children—and adults, too—have many kinds of feelings that are sometimes hard to explain. Participants will learn about the Sesame Street Initiative resources to help kids name and talk about their feelings and provide tools to process ways to manage feelings to support growth to gain social-emotional skills to handle stress, express empathy for others, and form positive relationships.

Sarah Welch - Sarah Welch focuses on using communications strategies to create system and social change under her organization Speak Action LLC. With 15+ years of experience in areas including nonprofit communications, journalism, and higher education, she brings knowledge of how to lead diverse stakeholders toward shared goals and strategies, develop frames for messaging to gain broader support, create and implement communications and action plans, and write engaging content.  As a network outreach and communications contractor with Iowa ACEs 360, she leads efforts to communicate the impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) on Iowans’ health and well-being and the importance of reshaping systems and communities to promote healing and build protective factors with families. Sarah also leads the Iowa Alliance for Healthy Kids, a collaborative effort with Sesame Street in Communities to improve the social-emotional well-being of kids ages 0-8 in Iowa and is a mentor to child health advocates through the HealthConnect Fellowship led by Mid-Iowa Health Foundation. Sarah provides regular trainings on Sesame Street in Communities resources, Iowa ACEs data and research, and messaging related to child and family well-being.
