Name Calling and Bullying. Threats and Intimidation. Fights. Self- Harm. Restraints. Runaway behaviors. When working with high risk or at risk youth we can experience any of these or all of these on a daily basis.  Having the skills, tools and knowledge to prepare for, identify and proactively intervene in these high-risk behaviors is critical! Welcome to Safety and Supervision 101.

Intended Audience: Qualified Residential Treatment Program Staff (QRTP), Shelter Staff (Child Welfare Emergency Services), Supervised Apartment Living Staff (SAL) Direct Care/Front-Line Staff and Supervisors

TRAINERS:
Tim Cart - Sr. Training Manager-Tim has been with Four Oaks for 23 years, and has experience in Foster Group Care (QRTP), CWES/Shelter, and Community-Based programming. He is a Mandt Instructor, Ukeru Trainer, EPICS-I Instructor, Run-Hide-Fight Active Threat Awareness trainer, AHA CPR and First Aid Instructor and is certified in Psychological First Aid. His mission is "to inspire meaningful change through teaching, coaching, mentoring and role modeling." He believes in helping families, children and staff work toward meaningful change that matters to them and finding creative ways to do it. Prior to joining the Four Oaks family, Tim served in the United States Army as a Staff Sergeant for 9 years as both Light Infantry and Military Police. When not providing leadership for the enterprise, Tim prefers to spend time at home with his family.

 

Registration will begin at 9:30AM. Training will begin promptly at 10:00AM. This training is scheduled until 12PM.

 Child Welfare Provider Training Academy: Participant Expectations
To ensure a positive and productive experience, please review the following expectations:  

  1. Attendance: Please attend all scheduled sessions on time and stay for the full duration. Notify us in advance if you’re unable to attend.
  2. Engagement: Actively participate in discussions and activities. Come prepared and ready to contribute.
  3. Professional Conduct: Treat trainers and fellow participants with respect. Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
  4. Confidentiality: Respect the confidentiality of personal or sensitive information shared during the training.
  5. Inclusivity: Contribute to a welcoming, non-discriminatory environment. Respect diverse perspectives.
  6. Technology (For virtual sessions): Ensure you have a stable internet connection and appropriate technology. Keep your camera on and mute your microphone when not speaking.

 

Please note: Priority seating is provided to staff working within one of the current DHS child welfare service contracts, including: Family Centered Services (FCS); Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) / Group Foster Care; Child Welfare Emergency Services (CWES): Aftercare Services; Supervised Apartment Living (SAL); Recruitment, Retention, Training and Support Services (RRTS); Parent Partners; Foster Care Youth Council. If you do not work within one of the current DHS child welfare services contract, you may be bumped from the course and placed on a waitlist.
