Solution Focused Meetings (SFM) provide an opportunity to partner with families engaged in the child welfare system. This training is designed for staff engaging in facilitation of Solution Focused Meetings. Participants will gain an understanding of integrating family meetings into the practice of Solution Based Casework. The training will provide guidance on the utilization of SFMs within the Milestones of Solution Focused Casework and engagement and preparation with families. Objectives: Katie Henniges & Zach Mundy Katie Henniges - Katie Henniges has over 23 years of experience in the human service field and has been employed with Families First since June 2005. Katie provides support and direction to supervisors and direct care staff through group and individual supervision to ensure quality services are being delivered to those families served by Families First. Katie is a Trainer for Child Safety Conferences and is an approved statewide Trainer Solution Focused Meeting and Youth Transition Decision Making Meetings. Katie has also facilitated trainings in partnership with the Iowa Department of Human Services for supervisors and direct care staff across Iowa. These topics have included but are not limited to: Family Interactions, Engaging Non-Custodial Parents in Child Welfare, Placement Stability and Quality Case Visits in Child Welfare. Zach Mundy - Zach Mundy is the Solution Based Casework Coordinator for Mid-Iowa Family Therapy Clinic. Zach has been with Mid-Iowa Family Therapy Clinic since 2008. Since 2008, Zach has been in the field providing in-home and safety services to families. Zach also has been a supervisor with the agency before becoming the SBC Coordinator. Zach attended Wartburg College in Waverly, IA and graduated with a BA in Community Sociology. In 2017, Zach completed his masters in marriage and family therapy from Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, IA. Zach assisted in creating the Solution Focused Meeting curriculum in 2020 and 2021 and is currently a statewide trainer for Solution Focused Meetings. Registration will begin at 8:30AM. Training will begin promptly at 9:00 AM. This training is scheduled until 4:15 PM. Masks are highly recommended. Social distancing will be practiced when available. Please note: Priority seating is provided to staff working within one of the curerent DHS child welfare service contracts, including: Family Centered Services (FCS); Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) / Group Foster Care; Child Welfare Emergency Services (CWES): Aftercare Services; Supervised Apartment Living (SAL); Recruitment, Retention, Training and Support Services (RRTS); Parent Partners; Foster Care Youth Council. If you do not work within one of the current DHS child welfare services contract, you may be bumped from the course and placed on a wait list.
